The 2020 Boone Suzuki Workshop

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church

unnamed.jpg

Our beautiful new location is up in the woods and amongst the deer, even closer than we were last year (less than one mile) from the Hayes School of Music in the Broyhill Music Center where the Appalachian Guitarfest activities will take place. We are looking forward to seeing you all March 20-22 (Fri-Sun) 2020 (you can come up for just Saturday also).

VIOLINISTS:  This year’s FiddleTricks workshop will be run similarly to last years, taking place Saturday, March 21, though there is good reason to come up for Friday evening as well (see point 4. below).  More information about the FiddleTricks offerings to follow, in the meantime contact Mrs. Kossler for information, lekossler@gmail.com.

Workshop Cancellation

We are sorry to announce that because of the latest events regarding the Coronavirus, we had no choice but to cancel this year's workshop.

We expect our next Boone workshop to take place either in September 2020 or March 2021, depending on the upcoming scheduling of the Appalachian Guitar Festival. Stay tuned!

New this year

The Boone Suzuki Workshop and Appalachian GuitarFest together offer a musical weekend like no other anywhere in the country!

  1. Our clinician this year is Steve Bondy from Denver Colorado.  Steve holds a Masters degree in guitar performance from the University of Denver and directs the Denver Suzuki Guitar program.  He is founder and director of the Denver Suzuki Guitar Summit, a guitar gathering that serves the entire western US.

  2. Our new guest teacher is Michael McCallie from Chatanooga Tn.  Michael holds a Masters and DMA degrees in Guitar Performance from Yale and Florida State respectively.  He is currently Director of Guitar Programs at McCallie School, and is the founder and Director of GuitarChattanooga, a classical guitar-driven 501©3 non-profit organization.

  3. New Elective -  a Ukulele class taught by Guitar and Uke wizard Justin Craig.  Ukes will be provided, but if you have one please bring it.  The raffle this year will be for a new Ukulele!

  4. New Friday Night Jam Session!  After our 6PM pizza dinner we will provide an opportunity for students who will be competing in the Appalachian Guitar Festival competition to practice performing one of their required pieces if they are interested in doing so.

Directly afterward we will have a jam session for everyone – violinists and guitarists and whatever – parents bring your instruments too! We will play fiddle tunes, popular tunes, and anything else that comes to mind!

Teachers: there is no fee to come and observe, but let us know if you'll be joining us for lunch on Saturday - bring your own or else pre-order with us a Chick-Fila lunch for $5 (just pay when you arrive).
